Athletics

California Trail’s girls' basketball teams is open for seventh and eighth grade students. We generally keep 15-18 players per team. Girls' basketball at California Trail is more than a sport — it’s an opportunity to connect, grow, and show Bulldog pride.

Cross-country is open to any student in sixth through eighth grade at California Trail. Sixth graders and seventh graders run a one-mile race over grassy terrain and eighth graders run a two-mile race in the meets. Cross-country is a fun, co-ed, short season and a great way to get involved at school and make some friends.
We are so happy you are interested in cross-country! Before we get the season started, here are a few things to know about middle school cross-country:

Football is open to all seventh and eighth grade students. There are no tryouts.
Any seventh or eighth grader interested in playing football needs to check out equipment before the first day of practice. The first day of practice is Aug. 15. A practice calendar will be given to players at equipment checkout.

Track is offered to girls and boys grades six-eight. The track meets are dual meets against other middle schools in Olathe.
